in ADYL Cup Semi-Final to New Romney

It was a heart breaking way to lose a Cup semi-final for the Charing U15s, on a day when the Boys put in one of their best performances of the season.

Being underdogs and playing against a team from the league above, Charing really took the game to New Romney in the first half, dominating possession and playing much the better football. We created a number of chances, Adam Spragg having an effort saved by the New Romney keeper and Junior also coming close.

H/Time: 0-0

Again, Charing set the pace in the second half and deservedly went ahead within 2 minutes from a free kick from Bobby which found James in the area to score.
The strong wind played its part at times, and with 7 minutes to go, New Romney scored an equaliser from a free kick, taking the game into extra time.

F/Time: 1-1

The contest was pretty even during the Extra Time period, with Charing continuing to play the better football but just unable to get the winner.

Extra Time: 1-1

The tie was finally decided on penalties with New Romney going through 4-3.

Paul and I were really gutted that the Boys were unable to reach their first final, and on the balance of play probably deserved to go through.

Charing were by far the better side on the day and commend the Boys on their effort and overall work rate.
It was a fantastic “Squad” effort, with the unused subs equally playing their part.

Scorer: James

MOM - The Whole Squad.

It would be unfair to pick out one individual, as Paul and I were really proud of the whole Squad
